Gerhard Schöne - Kings from the East
A concert by German artist Gerhard Schöne in Potsdam.
Gerhard Schöne (born 10 January 1952 in Coswig, Saxony) is a German singer-songwriter and children's book author who became the most successful Liedermacher of the GDR era. His songs - poetic, gently critical and rooted in his Protestant faith - speak equally to children and adults, and his popularity survived the fall of the Wall without a break. Since reunification he has released more than a dozen further albums on the BuschFunk label and performs regularly at Evangelical Church Congresses; he is also a UNICEF ambassador.
Schöne premiered his fourth trio programme 'Das, was aus der Seele kommt' together with organist Jens Goldhardt and saxophonist Ralf Benschu on 4 October 2025.
Schöne received the Bundesverdienstkreuz (Federal Cross of Merit) in Dresden on 10 December 2024, presented by Saxon Minister-President Michael Kretschmer on behalf of the Federal President.
His solo programme 'Ich sehe was, was du nicht siehst', drawing on 40 years of songs to invite fresh perspectives on everyday life, premiered in March 2024.
Schöne is touring Germany throughout 2026 with multiple formats - children's concerts, solo evenings and trio shows - with dates running into early 2027.
