Kishi Bashi - Sonderlust Solo - 10th Anniversary Tour
Kishi Bashi marks 10 years of "Sonderlust" with a solo show in Cologne, weaving together violin, looped electronics, and lush vocal harmonies.
Kishi Bashi is the stage name of Kaoru Ishibashi, an Emmy-nominated Japanese-American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Seattle in 1975 and trained at Berklee College of Music. He built his reputation on virtuoso violin looping and layered vocal harmonies, releasing his acclaimed debut 151a in 2012 and going on to collaborate with major US orchestras including the National Symphony Orchestra and Chicago Philharmonic. His 2019 project Omoiyari - a song-film addressing Japanese-American internment during WWII - cemented his standing as an artist who fuses pop craft with serious conceptual ambition.
