Beirut
American indie rock band Beirut performs at Tempodrom in Berlin.
Beirut is an American indie folk and chamber pop project founded in 2006 by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Zach Condon, now based in Berlin. The band's sound weaves Balkan folk, Mediterranean brass and ukulele into intimate orchestral arrangements - a style that won international acclaim from the very first album, Gulag Orkestar. Over seven studio albums Condon has kept pushing the project into new territory, most recently with A Study of Losses (2025), an 18-track commission for a Swedish contemporary circus company.
Beirut released A Study of Losses, an 18-track album commissioned by Swedish circus company Kompani Giraff, described by MOJO as Condon's 'most beautiful record to date'.
Beirut completed their first European tour since 2019, playing Utrecht, Brussels and London with Kompani Giraff joining the Netherlands and Belgium dates.
Beirut released the single 'Caspian Tiger', composed as part of the soundtrack for Kompani Giraff's stage production A Study of Losses, and announced their first tour dates in six years.
Beirut performed three sold-out concerts at Berlin's Tempodrom - their first live shows since Condon was forced to cancel his 2019 tour due to persistent throat issues.
Beirut released Hadsel, their first album in four years, self-written, self-recorded and self-produced by Condon during a period of recovery on a remote island in northern Norway.
