About

Stars is a Canadian indie pop band formed in Toronto around 1998 by vocalist Torquil Campbell and keyboardist Chris Seligman, later settling in Montreal. The five-piece - rounded out by Amy Millan (vocals/guitar), Evan Cranley (bass) and Patrick McGee (drums) - built their reputation on lush, orchestral arrangements and emotionally direct songwriting about love and loss. Their 2004 breakthrough Set Yourself on Fire earned a Juno Award nomination and platinum certification in Canada, while the 2022 album From Capelton Hill received a Polaris Music Prize longlist nod and their strongest critical reception in years.
