About
Laibach is a Slovenian avant-garde group founded on 1 June 1980 in the mining town of Trbovlje, representing the musical wing of the Neue Slowenische Kunst (NSK) collective. Their sound spans industrial, martial and neoclassical styles, while their use of totalitarian and militarist imagery - deliberately ambiguous - has provoked controversy and bans from Yugoslavia to the present day. Singer Milan Fras delivers lyrics in German, Slovenian and English that address war, power and politics. After Slovenian independence in 1991, the band's status shifted from dissident outsiders to a recognised national cultural institution.
