Mac DeMarco (born Vernor Winfield McBriare Smith IV, April 30, 1990, in Duncan, BC) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer who broke through on the indie scene in 2012. His jangly, lo-fi guitar sound - often tagged 'slacker rock' - earned him a devoted global following, with albums like Salad Days (2014) and This Old Dog (2017) shaping the direction of indie rock in the 2010s. In 2018 he founded his own imprint, Mac's Record Label, and in August 2025 released his sixth studio album, Guitar, written and recorded entirely at his Los Angeles home studio in twelve days.
