Manfred Mann's Earth Band is a British rock group formed in London in 1971 by South African-born keyboardist Manfred Mann, following his earlier 1960s band and the jazz-fusion project Manfred Mann Chapter Three. Blending progressive rock, hard rock and jazz influences, the band built a devoted following across Europe and North America over more than five decades of recording and touring. Their cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Blinded by the Light" hit #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in February 1977 - the only Springsteen-penned song ever to top that chart - and remains their signature track. Manfred Mann is the sole continuous member; the band continues to perform live as of 2026.
The band is currently on a 2026 European tour spanning 29+ dates across Germany, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Norway, Sweden and Austria.
The band marked their 2,000th live performance with the release of the compilation album "2000 Concerts... And Counting".
"Blinded by the Light" continues to receive coverage on its February 1977 chart anniversary, noted as the only Springsteen-written song to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
