Manfred Mann (born Manfred Sepse Lubowitz, 21 October 1940 in Johannesburg) is a South African-born keyboardist who has lived in the UK since 1961. He first came to prominence leading the 1960s pop group Manfred Mann, which scored hits including "Do Wah Diddy Diddy", "Pretty Flamingo" and a celebrated cover of Bob Dylan's "The Mighty Quinn". In 1971 he formed Manfred Mann's Earth Band, whose Springsteen cover "Blinded by the Light" reached number one in the US and Canada in 1976 - and the band has toured Europe continuously ever since.
New 2026 European tour dates for Manfred Mann's Earth Band were announced and tickets went on sale in December 2025.
The band marked their 2000th live performance in 2023 with the release of the compilation album "2000 Concerts... And Counting".
In a July 2024 interview with PopMatters, Manfred Mann spoke about his views on AI in music and his continued commitment to live performance without backing tracks.
