Misþyrming are a black metal band from Reykjavík, Iceland, formed in June 2013 by guitarist and vocalist D.G. (Dagur Gíslason) as a solo project. Their 2015 debut Söngvar elds og óreiðu drew immediate international attention and is widely regarded as a landmark of the Icelandic black metal scene; the band went on to release Algleymi (2019) and Með hamri (2022), each critically acclaimed and signed to the French label Norma Evangelium Diaboli. Alongside peers such as Svartidauði and Sinmara, they helped put Reykjavík on the global extreme metal map, and their reputation for ferocious live performances has kept them a fixture at major European festivals.
Misþyrming are currently touring across 6 countries with 10+ upcoming concerts, including Wacken Open Air (Germany) and Summer Dying Loud (Poland).
The band is confirmed for Brutal Assault 2026 in Jaroměř, Czech Republic (August 7) and Party San Open Air in Schlotheim, Germany (August 6).
Misþyrming performed at the Underground for the Masses festival in Bucharest, Romania.
Misþyrming played Messe des Morts XII in Montreal, Canada in late November 2024.
Third album Með hamri (meaning 'With a Hammer') was released on December 16, 2022 via Norma Evangelium Diaboli, featuring new drummer Magnús Skúlason from Svartidauði.
