About

Spectral Wound is a Canadian black metal quintet from Montreal, active since 2015 and signed to Profound Lore Records. Rather than drawing on the folklore-driven Métal Noir Québécois tradition, the band pursues a rawer, more direct lineage rooted in Scandinavian second-wave black metal - think early Darkthrone, Gorgoroth and Finnish acts like Sargeist. Their fourth album, Songs of Blood and Mire (2024), was widely praised as one of the strongest black metal records of the year, building on the underground breakthrough of A Diabolic Thirst (2021).
