Richard Thompson is a British guitarist, singer and songwriter, best known as a co-founder of the folk-rock band Fairport Convention in the late 1960s. He later built a long solo career, blending British folk traditions with rock and dark, introspective songwriting. His 1982 album "Shoot Out the Lights", recorded with his then-wife Linda Thompson, is widely regarded as one of his finest works.
