Roger Whittaker (22 March 1936 - 13 September 2023) was a Kenyan-born British singer-songwriter, recognised for his warm baritone, guitar playing and trademark whistling across a career spanning five decades. He sold an estimated 50-60 million records worldwide, with hits including "The Last Farewell", "Durham Town" and "New World in the Morning". In Germany he became a fixture of the Schlager scene, recording phonetically learned German-language albums from 1979 onward and touring the country regularly until 2007. He died in the south of France at the age of 87.
