About

Sophia is a British indie rock project founded in 1996 by San Diego-born singer, guitarist and producer Robin Proper-Sheppard, who had previously fronted noise-rock band The God Machine. Based in Berlin, Proper-Sheppard writes melancholic, orchestrally tinged songs that draw on post-rock, sadcore and alternative rock, releasing eight studio albums on his own Flower Shop Recordings label. The 2004 single 'Oh My Love' brought the band wider recognition across Europe, and the 2020 album 'Holding On / Letting Go' marked a return to full-band recording for the first time since the debut.
