The Animals are a British rock band from Newcastle upon Tyne, formed in the early 1960s. Fronted by Eric Burdon, they became one of the key acts of the British Invasion, known for a raw, blues-driven sound. Their 1964 recording of "The House of the Rising Sun" reached number one on both sides of the Atlantic.
