Tricky (born Adrian Nicholas Matthews Thaws, 1968, Bristol) is a British musician, producer and rapper who helped define trip-hop through his debut album Maxinquaye (1995). He came up through the Wild Bunch sound system alongside the future members of Massive Attack, and his dark, layered sound - blending hip-hop, dub, post-punk and rock - has influenced artists from Burial to Radiohead. Now on his fifteenth studio album, he remains one of the most restlessly experimental figures in British music.
