Vader is a Polish death metal band from Olsztyn, active since 1983 and one of the most enduring acts in European extreme metal. Founded by guitarist and vocalist Piotr "Peter" Wiwczarek - the only constant member across four decades - the band evolved from heavy/speed metal into a ferocious death metal force by the late 1980s. Albums such as "De Profundis" (1995), "Litany" (2000) and "Solitude in Madness" (2020) cemented their reputation for technically precise, relentlessly aggressive songwriting. They were also the first death metal band from behind the Iron Curtain to sign a record deal outside Poland.
