Young Widows are an American noise rock trio from Louisville, Kentucky, active since 2006. Formed from the ashes of post-hardcore group Breather Resist, the band - guitarist/vocalist Evan Patterson, bassist Nick Thieneman, and drummer Jeremy McMonigle - built a reputation for heavy, dissonant riffs that sit somewhere between the Jesus Lizard, Shellac, and sludge metal. Their albums 'Settle Down City' (2006), 'Old Wounds' (2008), 'In and Out of Youth and Lightness' (2011), and 'Easy Pain' (2014) cemented their place in the Louisville underground canon; in 2025 they returned with 'Power Sucker', their first record in eleven years.
