Here Elisabeth speaks - not "Sissi". The empress reveals herself from an unexpected angle: self-critical, thoughtful, furious. She looks back on the fractures of her life - marriage, the obligation to bear children, the cult of beauty, and her struggle for self-determination. In doing so, she confronts her own role and privileges: "Not being interested in politics is a privilege," Elisabeth realizes. After all, she could travel wherever she wanted, withdraw whenever she wished, and enjoy her extraordinary wealth.
But ultimately her journey leads to an insight that extends far beyond her time: freedom cannot be possessed alone. A woman is truly free only when all women are free.
With her monologue, Mareike Fallwickl builds a bridge from the first women's movement to contemporary feminism - a theatrical evening about power and powerlessness, responsibility and emancipation.
