Der alte Mann und das Meer - Theater Lindenhof/Altonaer Theater

This one-man show - a co-production between Theater Lindenhof and Altonaer Theater in Hamburg - marks actor Stefan Hallmayer's farewell to the stage. He plays the fisherman Santiago while also taking on the role of narrator.

Santiago, an old Cuban fisherman, has gone 84 days without a catch. He sets out anyway on one last great fishing trip, spending days locked in a struggle with an enormous marlin - battling physical exhaustion and loneliness along the way.

Hemingway's celebrated novella is a story of endurance and hope in the face of an unforgiving world.
