Berlin premiere of the rediscovered original film score for the expressionist silent classic "Der Golem, wie er in die Welt kam" - performed live with the METROPOLIS ORCHESTER BERLIN conducted by Burkhard Götze.
Jewish composer Hans Landsberger wrote a groundbreaking film score for this work in 1920 - one of the first in cinema history. For nearly 100 years it was considered lost; all works by the composer and Holocaust victim seemed to have vanished, until Richard Siedhoff discovered the music in 2018 and was able to reconstruct it. Based on this rediscovered score, Filmmuseum München digitally restored the film using film materials gathered from around the world. In October 2026, the film will be released on DVD in the Edition Filmmuseum series.
In this film concert, both the film restoration and the original music experience their Berlin premiere. Following the screening, Knut Elstermann discusses the restoration work with Stefan Drößler (restorer, project director and director of Filmmuseum München) and Richard Siedhoff.
