Julius Fischer - I Hate People. Reproduction

Julius Fischer wanted to stop hating people. Spread positivity, hand out compliments, love and be loved. But he hadn't reckoned with people. And then he had two kids. Had - he was there for it. He wrote a book about it.

It's dark in Leipzig. Everyone's asleep. Everyone? No. One child is putting up fierce resistance. The father, who bears more than a passing resemblance to the author, pulls out his last resort: a stroller walk. With an uncertain outcome and unpredictable duration. Like the Odyssey. Of course he meets people. Unfortunately. And he reflects on parenthood - while simultaneously being a parent. An exhausted parent. That doesn't help.

In the programme for the book, Fischer reads the funniest texts and sings love songs without happy endings in between. What the audience expects: funny texts, funny songs, an intermission, possibly a joint sleep therapy session, lengthy parenting conversations at the book table. What won't happen: poems (his poetry collection "Silence" is just sold out, or hasn't been published yet, or hasn't been written yet), photos of children, crowd work, live painting, conspiracy theories.

The author himself says: "I'd go see that if I didn't have a gig myself!"
