Terror
Parktheater Lahr, Germany
Which carries more weight: the lives of a few or the lives of many?
A courtroom drama by Ferdinand von Schirach.
To stop a terrorist from crashing a hijacked passenger jet into the packed Allianz Arena, Bundeswehr pilot Lars Koch defies orders and shoots the plane down - killing 164 people to save 70,000.
The grand criminal chamber of the Berlin jury court must decide: can Lars Koch be convicted of murder? The defence argues he made a legitimate weighing of values - after all, his action saved thousands of lives. The prosecution charges him with insubordination, but above all with violating human dignity: by calculating lives against each other, he reduced the passengers to a means to an end, even though they had the same right to life as anyone else.
The verdict is delivered by the audience itself, who vote on the guilt or innocence of the defendant - and thereby determine the outcome of the trial.
