Devid Striesow and Markus Becker - Hymnen an die Nacht
Schloss Landestrost, Neustadt am Rübenberge, Germany
30 €
Nocturnal poetry and prose with Devid Striesow and Markus Becker: from Novalis and Heine to Strindberg and Kaleko, in dialogue with Bach's Goldberg Variations and piano improvisations.
Heine and Novalis's romantic dreamworld, Mascha Kaleko's urban verse, Strindberg's paranoia, Kafka's insomnia, Beckett's surreal monologues, Freud's dream interpretation - together they paint a portrait of night as a space for fantasies, nightmares, longing, shelter and vulnerability; as a counterworld to daily life; as a projection of fear, happiness, death and love; and as a symbol of all our darker sides.
Bach's Goldberg Variations - composed roughly three hundred years ago as a landmark commissioned work to entertain during sleepless nights - enter into close dialogue with the texts: sometimes as a musical twin, sometimes in contradiction, sometimes in mutual interplay, sometimes transformed through improvisation.
