What on earth is that strange creature with a trunk on its face? Or is it a child covered in blue ink stains? Herr Taschenbier knows straight away what kind of being this is. After a whole week of bizarre coincidences, it is on a Saturday of all days that he has his wonderful encounter with the Sams. He has no idea yet what the Sams is capable of. With its cheeky and outrageous ways, it turns the world of this otherwise modest and unremarkable loner completely upside down. Herr Taschenbier wants to sink into the floor with embarrassment whenever the Sams starts rhyming, shouting, or simply eating other people's things. Though he initially wants to get rid of it, he gradually warms to the idea of being a father. His Sams, it turns out, still has a lot to teach him - perhaps even something he has always longed for.
