Concert "Olenbrooker Schlüsenchor"

The Olenbrooker Schlüsenchor has its roots in the Altenbrucher Seesportverein, founded in 1974. During Sunday morning gatherings at the tavern "Zur Schleuse" - with beer, grain spirits, cigars, and games - Mieke Steinmetz and Helmut Schulz came up with the idea of replacing expensive musicians and choirs themselves. Since these gatherings regularly ran long and the singing was decent enough, the step seemed natural.

A week after this conversation, the first rehearsal took place at the "Schleuse". Mieke brought her accordion, and in 1976 the Olenbrooker Schlüsenchor gave its first official performance. Since then, the choir has been a pure hobby and pastime for men who love to sing - with changing musicians, but an unchanged core idea.

Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome to join. Rehearsals take place every Friday at 19:00 in Villa Gehben in Altenbruch.
