The Beginning of It All

In 1974, the Altenbrucher Seesportverein was founded - a small club devoted to crab fishing and sailing. Members gathered on Sunday mornings at the tavern "Zur Schleuse", where music played over beer, grain spirits, and cigars. As costs for hiring musicians and choirs mounted, Mieke Steinmetz and Helmut Schulz decided to sing themselves. A week later, the first rehearsal took place, and in 1976 the "Olenbrooker Schlüsenchor" gave its first official concert. Mieke played accordion, and the choir weathered many ups and downs.

The Olenbrooker-Schlüsenchor e.V. has been a pure joy and hobby for singing men since 1976. Any man who loves to sing is welcome to join. Rehearsals take place every Friday at 19:00 in the beautiful Villa Gehben in Altenbruch.
