Notos Quartett is a chamber ensemble that regularly performs in prestigious European concert halls including the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Philharmonie Köln, Berliner Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Berlin, Konzerthaus Wien, Wigmore Hall London, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Tonhalle Zurich, BOZAR Brussels, and Teatro la Fenice Venice. The ensemble is a regular guest at major music festivals on the Rhine, in Schwetzingen, Würzburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Lockenhaus, and Usedom, and also participates in Montpellier Radio France. Notos Quartett tours worldwide, performing in Australia, the USA, China, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
In 2022, the ensemble received the prestigious Würth Prize from Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland. Beyond celebrated masterworks, Notos Quartett actively champions contemporary music - composers including Beat Furrer, Bernhard Gander, Garth Knox, and Bryce Dessner have written new piano quartets for the ensemble. The ensemble is also dedicated to discovering and presenting forgotten works of the genre to a broad audience.
This marks the ensemble's fourth visit to Villa Rot. The concert promises to be an evening of musical vitality and outstanding artistic mastery.
