Curse, Fortune and Many a Trick - Comedy by and with Spitz & Stumpf — Kulturzentrum Hufeisen, Germersheim
Description was written before the event

Bernhard Weller and Götz Valter bring their comedy spectacular "Fluch, Fortüne und viele Finten" to Germersheim specially for the city's anniversary.

The show was created alongside the state exhibition "Die Habsburger. Aufstieg einer Dynastie im Mittelalter" and marks the third collaboration between the Palatinate comedy duo - better known as "Spitz & Stumpf" - and the Historical Museum of the Palatinate. The subject matter sounds like a history lesson but turns out to be a blend of crime thriller, soap opera and comedy: 250 years of German history in which not only the Habsburgs but also the Wittelsbachs, Nassaus, Luxembourgs and Bohemians all wanted their turn as king. The result: two kings at once, kings who never showed up, dead kings who cheerfully kept on ruling, kings with three crowns and some with none at all - and at one point three popes simultaneously, including saints who were utterly useless and others in suspenders.

Historian, actor and playwright Bernhard Weller teases out the absurdities, the unintentional comedy and the parallels with the present day; Götz Valter is his perfectly matched stage partner. Over 20 rapid costume and character changes are included - sharp, funny, always grounded in the historical sources. Their motto sums it up: "Es hört halt ääfach net uff zu bassiere!"
