Ah, youth! Wouldn't we all love to be 16 again? Not everyone. Jane Mumford, daughter of a Swiss mother and an English father, grew up in Zurich - and she'd rather not. As a child, the world seemed magical, but the moment she left primary school, life became one long list of exhausting demands: wanting to be cool, needing to fit in, trying to keep up, finding the great love of your life... and at some point you're also supposed to achieve something before you die! So much to do! Overwhelmed by it all, she spent her teenage years in retreat as a tap-dancing gothic rocker - and still wonders whether she ever truly grew out of that teenage state. Because all the self-doubt, the weltschmerz and the overthinking still follow her today... in the deepest, darkest shadows of the night.
