Two chairs, two guitars and two microphones - that is all Jan Pascal and Alexander Kilian need to move hearts, captivate audiences and set emotions free.
Café del Mundo play a sound entirely their own. Their finely tuned guitars radiate a southern joy of life from the very first note - music that celebrates and deeply moves at the same time. The two are contrasting artistic personalities separated by twelve years, who first met at a guitar workshop. Alexander Kilian is regarded as a guitar prodigy: highly virtuosic, extroverted and award-winning, he has been known to dance across the rows of seats mid-performance. Jan Pascal is the poet of the pair - a musician with depth, meaning and an instinct for the melodies of life. Together they pursue a shared dream: bringing their instrument, the Andalusian flamenco guitar, to audiences around the world.
A Café del Mundo concert is a tribute to the great love of life, to the sense of connection between people, and to the pure joy of the moment - "guitartainment", as they call it. It is a statement in favour of original, handcrafted music as it should be: authentic, organically grown, deeply inspired and community-building.
Their breakthrough came, of all times, during the pandemic. Their sensitive yet energetic arrangements of pop and film music classics (such as "viva la vida" and "una mattina") have racked up millions of streams on Instagram. Concert invitations from around the world followed, and Café del Mundo have since worked repeatedly at Abbey Road Studios and recorded together with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
