Langenargener Festspiele | The Three Musketeers

The evening programme of the Langenargener Festspiele brings "The Three Musketeers" to life as a gripping, fast-paced theatrical event - part swashbuckling adventure, part sharp comedy, all played with infectious energy.

France, 1628. Amid political turmoil, the young d'Artagnan sets off for Paris, determined to become one of the King's Musketeers. Almost immediately he crosses paths with Athos, Porthos and Aramis - three of the country's most celebrated Musketeers. To his astonishment, they are women: bold, brawling, fond of a drink and bursting with spirit. Together they are drawn into a dangerous game of love, loyalty, betrayal and court intrigue.

When a conspiracy threatens the Queen, the stakes quickly rise far beyond personal ambition. Friendship, trust and solidarity are put to the test...

The Langenargener Festspiele production takes this famous story in a surprising direction - a show that entertains, moves and takes a clear stance. A story about freedom, solidarity and the courage to stand up for what is right, performed against the unique backdrop of Lake Constance.

This specially commissioned version was written and directed by Andreas Kloos and had its world premiere on 10 June 2023 as part of the sixth festival season.

The open-air theatre performances take place at the Konzertmuschel in the Schlosspark Langenargen from 20 June to 8 August 2026.
