Oscar Bohórquez & Frank Braley — August Everding Saal, Grünwald

OSCAR BOHÓRQUEZ [Violin]
FRANK BRALEY [Piano]

Oscar Bohórquez was born into a family of musicians with South American roots and began playing violin at the age of six. In 2009, he made his debut as a soloist with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and has since performed on the world's major concert stages. "… a breathtakingly fiery, extroverted and excitingly detailed performance." - The Strad Magazine

Frank Braley - highly regarded for his poetic sensitivity at the piano - won the First Grand Prize of the prestigious Concours Reine Elisabeth at just 22 years old, marking the beginning of a remarkable international career.

With a perfect blend of "needle-sharp alertness and bluesy laziness" (FonoForum), the two artists embark on a musical journey of discovery. The selection of works from "UNEXPECTED AMERICA" is deeply personal: Oscar Bohórquez's South American roots play a formative role for him, while Frank Braley has long been intensely engaged with North American music - including during the recording of a Gershwin album.

The evening's programme features works by Paul Schoenfield, Aaron Copland, Mike Mower and Camargo Guarnieri, as well as compositions by George Gershwin and Astor Piazzolla. Music full of rhythmic power and rich colour reflects the broad musical palette of both Americas.
