Blues Brothers - Based on the Cult Film by Dan Aykroyd and John Landis
Schlosstheater Celle, Germany
Black suits, sunglasses and a plan: Jake and Elwood Blues are heading to Celle. In their luggage: plenty of soul, rhythm and blues, and a wild scheme to save the orphanage from their childhood. The iconic mission takes them straight from prison to the stage of the summer theatre in the palace courtyard. And what could be more fitting? In Celle, it's easy to confuse the historic jail with the castle - the city has a long history as a place of incarceration. Places where escape and fresh starts fit perfectly into the programme.
On stage in the courtyard, the Blues Brothers set the air vibrating: a musical rollercoaster with quirky characters leads through bars, churches, police stations - back to prison and straight into the heart of music. Based on the legendary film by Dan Aykroyd and John Landis, the mismatched duo, with a large ensemble, live music and hits like "Everybody Needs Somebody", "Soul Man" and "Gimme Some Lovin'" take the stage in the baroque courtyard. A summer evening that rocks and captivates without restraint. A show of rebellion with groove and guaranteed cult factor: in the name of the Lord and under the open sky.
