A stage play based on the novel by Ernest Hemingway
Ernest Hemingway's celebrated novella "The Old Man and the Sea" comes to life on the stage of the Altonaer Theater. Santiago, an old fisherman from Cuba, has gone 84 days without a catch and is close to despair - yet he refuses to give up. With iron resolve, he sets out on one last great adventure to land an enormous marlin. What follows is a relentless, days-long struggle between man and nature.
Alone on the vast ocean, Santiago battles not only the fish but also his own physical limits and the deep loneliness of his life. His story is more than an adventure - it is a searching meditation on human existence, the meaning of endurance and hope, and the drive to achieve something in an often unforgiving world.
