Art in the Centre / VAN GOGH
Międzynarodowe Centrum Kongresowe w Katowicach, Katowice
THE WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE SUNFLOWERS. VINCENT VAN GOGH
During his lifetime, he sold one painting. Mocked, on the margins of society — he struggled to form relationships, never started a family, could not earn a living. Yet his art today touches the hearts and minds of millions. This lecture is a story about the man and his paintings — a journey in blue and yellow.
Art in the Centre is a series of lectures at the International Congress Centre in Katowice dedicated to the world's most famous artists. The stories are based on facts and biographies of creators whose works hang in the world's most important museums — about people, canvases, sculptures, objects and abstractions that inspire wonder, but also those that shock or evoke sadness.
Lecturer: Katarzyna Czapla-Durska — art historian, graduate of art history at the University of Silesia and semiological studies "Symbolism in World Cultures" at the Papal University of John Paul II in Kraków. She conducts art history classes for various age groups, covering phenomena from the Paleolithic to the present day. She created, among other things, the "Sztukowanie" project for seniors, implemented for nearly 10 years in collaboration between the Pedagogical Provincial Library and the Silesian Theatre.
Duration: 1 hour. Recommended for adults / preferred age 16+.
