Mujeres – Women
Republika Sztuki Tłusta Langusta, Poznań, Poland
"Mujeres – Women at Tłusta" is a theatrical performance-Cuentacuentos by Eva Rufo and Marta Królikowska, created based on Eduardo Galeano's book "Mujeres". It tells the stories of women who are brave and sad, mischievous and innocent, violent and victimized, silent and screaming — women as children, women as mothers, women as acrobats.
Cuentacuentos is a Spanish tradition of storytelling that emerged in the 1950s in Barcelona to encourage reading and combat illiteracy. From libraries, it spread to shelters, cultural centers, prisons, bars, and streets. The performance attempts to portray women differently from the traditional image — silent, calm, and submissive.
The performance is conducted in Polish and Spanish.
