"Butterflies Are Free" - butterflies are fascinating, flying and fleeting, beautiful, delicate - just like our feelings and emotions. Our production features love, disappointment, eroticism, despair and comedy. A bit like commedia dell'arte - the young are delicate and touching, while the older characters are grotesque and very funny. Can an overbearing mother end her son's romance with a young neighbour? Is a modern theatre director a more attractive partner for a young actress than a delicate young man? How should a 30-year-old divorcée look? Just as in the play - on stage we have a collision of youthful energy - in the role of "Don" Chris Cugowski, in the role of "Jill" Zuzanna Mikołajczyk and Wiktoria Koprowska - with the mastery of mature age - in the role of "Florentyna" Agnieszka Pilaszewska and Lesław Żurek as "Rafał". Although our story takes place in an attic of a tenement house in Warsaw's Praga district, Columbia Pictures made a film adaptation of this play. In the film titled "Butterflies Are Free", the role of "Jill" was played by Goldie Hawn - an actress with exceptional comic timing.
