Pętla — Konin Cultural Centre, Konin

Konin Culture Centre launches a new theatre cycle "Scena Konin" - productions on the Main Stage featuring professional actors and acclaimed creators. As the institution's director Lucyna Lenard-Woźniak explains, the goal is to regularly present ambitious theatre to Konin residents without the need to travel to larger cultural centres.

The cycle opens with the premiere of "Pętla" - the latest work by brothers Arkadiusz and Piotr Pachulski, known for productions such as "Łajza", "The Master and Margarita" and "1984". This time they have adapted a short story by Marek Hłaski: the story of Kuba, a man trapped in addiction, becomes a theatrical narrative about loneliness, helplessness and a desperate attempt at salvation. Arkadiusz Pachulski, the author of the adaptation and the production's concept, describes it as "a powerful, uncompromising story about a man confronting his own weaknesses". The production combines dramatic theatre with elements of blues-rock opera.

The key musical role is performed by the band Normalsi - Piotr Pachulski, Przemysław Wyrwas and Bartek "Wrony" Wroniszewski. The music, composed by Piotr Pachulski (song lyrics written jointly with his brother), serves not merely as background but comments on events and builds meaning in individual scenes. On stage will appear actors associated with theatres in Łódź and Warsaw: Rafał Dąbrowski, Dominika Lichy and Marek Lipski. The production was directed by Przemysław Redkowski, who also created the set design together with Arkadiusz Pachulski.
