"Revenge" by Aleksander Fredry - alongside "Maidens' Vows", his most celebrated comedy - has lived in the consciousness of Polish generations for nearly 200 years. Critics wrote that it was like a "polonaise played in the sound of words", and all agreed on one thing: it is Fredry's most Polish comedy.

A neighborly dispute between the Chamberlain and the Lawyer becomes the foundation for exposing human flaws and mocking pettiness, but also a reminder that in the end, reconciliation will restore what hatred has destroyed. There is also a love intrigue involving young lovers and the schemes of the ridiculous Papkin and the appetizing Podstolina. The castle itself is a separate character in the play - a motif from a pre-Romantic Gothic novel, whose origins trace back to Horace Walpole's "The Castle of Otranto" from 1764.

The production of the Polish Classics Theatre was directed by Michał Chorośinski. Cast: Joanna Kwiatkowska-Zduń, Maria Witkowska, Jarosław Gajewski, Henryk Gołębiewski, Dariusz Kowalski, Łukasz Lewandowski, Cezary Łukaszewicz, Paweł Lipnicki, Leszek Zduń.
