PRANIE MUZGÓ — Stefan Jaracz Theatre in Łódź, Łódź

Welcome to the Institute of Post-Truth! Post-truth is not just a social or political problem - it is a deeply personal matter for each of us. At some point in life, everyone can encounter disinformation. In a moment, we will connect the equipment and try to understand what happens in the mind of a person whose views have undergone radicalization. We will measure pulse, skin conductivity, pupil movements, and electrical impulses flowing through the brain.

During war, every piece of information is a weapon. New forms of propaganda and influence, observed since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, lead to erosion of public trust and threaten destabilization. Pranie Muzgó is a simulation of the activities of a research institute that could be created to counter hybrid warfare on Polish territory.

Actresses of the Jaracza Theatre take on the roles of researchers; they are accompanied by Yuliya Kovalchuk - a Ukrainian neuroscientist and performer. The performance draws from neuropolitics, a developing discipline examining the biological foundations of human political activity. Pranie Muzgó poses questions: is it possible to remain free in a world full of manipulation? What active role can art play in times of democratic crisis and post-truth? How can we protect social bonds from collapse?

The performance grows out of the long-term artistic and activist practice of Magda Szpecht, winner of the Kamyk Puzyny Award in 2025, recognized for combining theatrical creation with cyberactivism, information, and educational activities in support of Ukraine. The scenic space and technological solutions are designed by Janek Simon.

Performance for audiences 15+. Audience participation is possible during the show.

Sensitive content: profanity; the performance critically presents content related to Russian political propaganda. The performance includes pyrotechnic effects (smoke) and stroboscopic light effects.
