Avalon Emerson is an American DJ, producer and vocalist born in San Francisco and raised in Arizona, who built her reputation playing marathon sets at Berlin's Berghain before relocating to upstate New York. Her 2016 track "The Frontier" became a club landmark, later voted one of the defining electronic tracks of the 2010s by Resident Advisor. Under the alias Avalon Emerson & the Charm she has released two critically acclaimed indie-pop albums - "& the Charm" (2023) and "Written into Changes" (2026) - both co-produced with Bullion, showing a side of her artistry far removed from the DJ booth.
Avalon Emerson & the Charm released their second album "Written into Changes" on Dead Oceans on March 20, 2026, to widespread critical acclaim.
The Line of Best Fit awarded "Written into Changes" 8/10, calling it "a memoiristic album and the product of five years of constant travel."
Emerson announced a string of European live shows with the Charm to celebrate the album, including dates in Manchester, London, Paris and Berlin.
The Perpetual Emotion Machine singles series was compiled into a release on Dead Oceans in November 2025, including a collaboration with Moby on "E After Next".
