Legendary Cuban guitarist Eliades Ochoa from Buena Vista Social Club will perform his compositions at Festspielhaus St. Pölten.
Buena Vista Social Club is a Cuban musical collective formed in 1996 by producer Ry Cooder and bandleader Juan de Marcos González, bringing together veteran Havana musicians to record the traditional styles of son, bolero and danzón. Their self-titled debut album sold over 8 million copies and became the best-selling world music record of all time, while Wim Wenders' 1999 documentary - nominated for an Academy Award - turned the project into a global phenomenon. Surviving members including singer Omara Portuondo and guitarist Eliades Ochoa continue to perform worldwide, and in 2025 a Broadway musical based on the group's story won five Tony Awards.
