Curses is the project of New York-born, Berlin-based musician and DJ Luca Venezia, who has spent over a decade building a sound that threads post-punk, cold wave, EBM and dark disco into a single, distinctly nocturnal whole. He performs both as a solo DJ and as a live duo - guitars, bass and vocals front and center - and has played everywhere from Circoloco at DC-10 to the late Andrew Weatherall's Convenanza Festival. Beyond his own records, he runs the Ombra International label and curated the acclaimed Next Wave Acid Punx compilation series, which traced the lineage from early EBM and New Beat through to today's underground club scene.
Curses released 'Next Wave Acid Punx TROIS' on June 4, 2026 via Eskimo Recordings, closing the three-part compilation series he began in 2021 with 46 tracks spanning industrial, EBM, new beat and early rave.
German music magazine Groove published an in-depth interview with Curses in August 2026, reflecting on his 13 years under the alias and his roots in 1980s New York.
Curses performed a guest mix for KCRW's FREAKS ONLY show in March 2025 and played a live set in Los Angeles at the Sirens party.
The compilation 'Next Wave Acid Punx Revamps' was released in February 2025, extending the series with reworked material ahead of the final TROIS chapter.
Curses released his third studio album 'Another Heaven' on October 25, 2024 via Italians Do It Better, co-produced with Johnny Jewel of Chromatics fame.
