About

Geordie Greep (born 20 August 1999, Walthamstow, London) is an English singer, guitarist and songwriter who fronted the critically acclaimed avant-prog band black midi from 2017 until the group's hiatus in 2024. After the split he launched a solo career, releasing his debut album The New Sound on Rough Trade Records in October 2024 - a sprawling jazz-rock and Latin-inflected record that drew on sessions partly recorded in São Paulo. His voice, often described as 'geographically unclassifiable', and his narrative-driven songwriting have made him one of the more distinctive figures in contemporary British rock.
