About

King Crimson are an English progressive rock band formed in London in 1968 by guitarist Robert Fripp, who remained the sole constant member across more than two decades of activity, multiple hiatuses, and over 20 musicians passing through the ranks. Their debut album In the Court of the Crimson King (1969) is widely regarded as one of the defining records of the progressive rock genre, and the band went on to release 13 studio albums drawing on jazz, classical, folk, heavy metal, and experimental music. Robert Fripp declared the 2014-2021 octet lineup the band's final incarnation, though in July 2025 vocalist Jakko Jakszyk confirmed that a new studio album - their first since The Power to Believe (2003) - is currently in progress.
