Gerald Clayton (born May 11, 1984 in Utrecht, Netherlands) is an American jazz pianist and composer who grew up in Los Angeles as the son of bassist John Clayton. A six-time Grammy nominee, he studied under Billy Childs at USC Thornton and Kenny Barron at the Manhattan School of Music, and has recorded and toured with Charles Lloyd, Diana Krall, Roy Hargrove, and Ambrose Akinmusire, among many others. Since signing to Blue Note Records, his albums have pushed post-bop into chamber music, neo-soul, and DJ-inspired territory.
