Mare Nostrum - Paolo Fresu, Richard Galliano, Jan Lundgren
Jazz trio Mare Nostrum, featuring Paolo Fresu, Richard Galliano and Jan Lundgren, brings an evening of lyrical European jazz to the Erholungshaus in Leverkusen.
Paolo Fresu (born 10 February 1961 in Berchidda, Sardinia) is an Italian jazz trumpeter, flugelhorn player, composer and arranger, widely regarded as one of the leading voices in European jazz. His lyrical, Miles Davis-inflected sound draws equally on the cool jazz tradition and his Sardinian musical roots. He has appeared on more than 350 recordings, leads over 20 active projects, and runs both the Time in Jazz festival in Berchidda and his own label, Tǔk Music.
Fresu was named recipient of the Premio Albo d'Oro 2026 at the Premio Andrea Parodi world music festival in Cagliari (15-17 October).
Fresu performed 'Kind of Miles' - a theatrical concert tribute to Miles Davis - at Umbria Jazz 2026 (Teatro Morlacchi, 4 July).
Fresu released 'Trama Latina', a new album with vocalist David Linx and pianist Gustavo Beytelmann, on his own Tǔk Music label.
Fresu released 'Mare Nostrum IV' with Richard Galliano and Jan Lundgren, and 'kind of MILES' as separate studio projects.
The theatrical production 'Kind of Miles', written and performed by Fresu and produced by Teatro Stabile di Bolzano, was scheduled for a multi-year tour.
