About

Nation of Language is a Brooklyn-based synth-pop trio formed in 2016, consisting of Ian Richard Devaney (vocals, guitar), Aidan Noell (synthesizers) and Alex MacKay (bass). Drawing on new wave, post-punk and krautrock, the band built a devoted following across four albums - most recently Dance Called Memory (2025, Sub Pop) - and earned Rough Trade's Album of the Year for Strange Disciple (2023).
