Austra is a Canadian electronic music project founded in Toronto in 2009 by singer, songwriter, and producer Katie Stelmanis - a classically trained musician of Latvian descent who initially set her sights on opera. The project blends synth-pop, darkwave, and art-pop around Stelmanis's distinctive operatic voice, with a rotating live band backing her on tour. Five studio albums span from the acclaimed debut Feel It Break (2011) to Chin Up Buttercup (2025), released on Domino Records.
