Omar Lye-Fook MBE (born 14 October 1968 in London, raised in Canterbury, Kent) is a British soul and neo-soul singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and actor, active since 1985. Classically trained at Chetham's School of Music and the Guildhall School of Music - which later awarded him an honorary doctorate - he broke through in 1991 with 'There's Nothing Like This', a UK Top 20 hit on Gilles Peterson's Talkin' Loud label. Over nine studio albums he has collaborated with Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Robert Glasper and Paul Weller, earning a reputation as one of the most influential figures in British soul.
A remix album 'Brighter The Days - The Remixes' (featuring Kenny Dope, DJ Spinna and Joe Claussell) is scheduled for release on 26 June 2026.
Omar released his first-ever Christmas single, 'That Time Again', featuring Charlene Hamilton and produced by his brother Scratch Professer, in November 2025.
