Ricky Martin (born Enrique Martín Morales, December 24, 1971, San Juan, Puerto Rico) is a singer, songwriter and actor widely credited with bringing Latin pop to a global mainstream audience. He started performing at twelve as a member of the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo, then launched a solo career in 1991 that produced over 70 million records sold worldwide. His 1999 crossover hit "Livin' la Vida Loca" became a cultural landmark, and he has since collected six Grammy Awards across a catalogue spanning Latin pop, salsa, reggaeton and dance.
